The westbound shoulder of US 50 east of Bridal Veil Falls in El Dorado County collapsed due to soil erosion, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
The CHP said Caltrans was working to fix it. No additional information was released.

Highway 50 continues to succumb to the weather, with a lane collapsing near Bridal Veil Falls. Caltrans has been monitoring the road conditions.
The department says units have also responded to multiple reports of flooded roadways and trees down across the entire county.
KCRA-TV reported that Highway 50 has been plagued with a number of issues over the past several weeks due to mudslides following heavy rain.
