Toyota Prius Prime vs Hyundai Ioniq: Which Tech Suits You Best?

For 2017, Toyota has 8 hybrid vehicle models on sale globally, ranging from the Prius C hatchback to the Avalon full-size sedan, as well as medium and full-size SUV's like the RAV4 and Highlander, respectively. Below are some detailed technical comparisons of the two models.

The Prime Advanced, the top Prime trim, comes with a large 11.6-inch display but it lacks in integration for Apple and Android devices. On top of that, it integrates with Amazon Alexa, Apple Watch and Android Wear watches. It's not just the Toyota hybrid lineup that's doing well either, as the luxury arm of Toyota, Lexus, has hybrid versions of nearly every single model in their range, indicating the luxury auto market is also showing a strong lean towards eco-friendly cars both at home and overseas.

However, the Ioniq offers more. It also has roadside assistance as well as stolen vehicle recovery feature.

Furthermore, the Prius Prime boasts of its Toyota Safety Sense.

The new Hyundai Ioniq can be purchased in three different versions, ranging from hybrid to an electric vehicle.

The new vehicle is outfitted with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control and lane departure alert with steering assist. Although these aren't standards for the Ioniq, the Ultimate Package will bring similar safety features.

Both the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq and the 2017 Prius Prime feature fantastic, revolutionary technology. Hyundai seems to have considered the ergonomic layout of positioning the controls where the driver will not have a hard time locating it.

By looking at the dashboard, the Hyundai Ioniq has all the tools and buttons exactly where you are used to seeing them, having a TFT LCD cluster placed in front of the driver. The steering wheel and other controls give you the opportunity to choose which information is relevant enough to be always displayed on the screen, besides fuel level and speed.

However, the Prius has its instrument cluster positioned to the right of the driver. Things were improved with the Prius Prime, because the model has a heads-up display which will no longer require the extra effort to look sideways while driving, TechCrunch has reviewed. However, they differ in capacities as Hyundai Ioniq is a 1.6 liter while the Toyota Prius Prime is a 1.8 liter, Hybridcars has noted.
