Cannon Air Force Base has identified the three aircrew members who died in a U-28A aircraft crash. Also killed were 29-year-old Capt. Kenneth Dalga from Goldsboro, North Carolina, and 26-year-old co-pilot, 1st Lt. Frederick Dellecker from Daytona Beach, Florida.

Becker, 33, was originally from Novi, Mich. and worked as a pilot for the 318th Special Operations Squadron at the base.

Col. Ben Maitre, commander of the 27th Special Operations Wing, says the unit's thoughts and prayers are with families and friends of those killed. The remains of the three airmen were transported to Albuquerque for autopsy, the statement said.

Baccam said the base ceased all flying operations Tuesday night and resumed them Wednesday morning for all but the 318th Special Operations Squadron.

Officials said use of the Clovis airport was part of the training mission, but additional information on the mission and circumstances of the crash itself were not immediately available.

The 318th was activated in 2008 under Air Force Special Operations Command to provide "battlefield mobility for our special operations forces", according to then-Col.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The wreck occurred less than a mile from the Clovis Municipal Airport.

A U-28A is a single-engine aircraft built for surveillance and reconnaissance and has "outstanding reliability", according to the Air Force.

The aircraft is operated by the 318th, 319th and 34th Special Operations squadrons, while training is conducted by the 5th and 19th SOS.
