Phil Spencer Teases Popular Game Will Soon Be Xbox One Backwards Compatible

The head of the Xbox division has reiterated that his recent trip to Japan has been very fruitful in this regard and that there will soon be news about it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is the most requested game, although it sounds like it won't be on the list yet. He says there is more work left to be done- but Japanese publishers who want global success look at Xbox as an important part of their success. Many gamers love to play hours and hours of their old Xbox 360 video games.

As for if Project Scorpio will be announced at E3 or before, Spencer said he "can't announce this yet".

Phil Spencer seems to be very optimistic about the support of the Japanese publisher third party and it is not excluded that Scorpio may have a line-up with richer JRPG and Eastern kind of titles. PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation Vita, PC, all get substantially more Japanese games than Xbox does. Spencer responded by saying that Xbox usage for buying games and DLCs are high, while the console's attach rate is also high. In order to secure a successful launch, Microsoft's Xbox team will have to concentrate on first-party games, something that Xbox head Phil Spencer just recently addressed. "Started w/ focus on hardware, longest timelines. But we've rebuilt Xbox Live and our operating system, and now we're bringing that same focus to first-party development". "I want to give our games more time on stage at E3, I sometimes feel like we rush telling the story of our games at E3", Spencer said.
