'Sesame Street' finally introduces Julia, a muppet with autism

Who's new kid on the block?

The muppet first appeared in October 2015 in an online Digital Storybook story titled SESAME STREET and Autism: See the awesome in all children. Watch a clip of Julia above!

According to Entertainment Weekly, Julia first appeared in the Sesame Street universe in a 2015 digital storybook called "Sesame Street and Autism: See the unbelievable in All Children". Julia's puppeteer, Stacey Gordon, has a son with autism herself.

Julia was added to the main show having initially featured in the programme "Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children".

Christine said, Big Bird thinks "Maybe she didn't like me" but the other muppets tell him, "She does things just a little differently".

Big Bird met his new neighbor on 60 Minutes last night: Julia, a yellow puppet with orange hair who didn't greet him back. But rather than reject her Julia, change their game in order to make her fell included. One in 68 American children has autism, according to the Centers for Disease Control. She is set to make her TV debut in April.

"More than 20 years ago, my attractive son received the diagnosis of autism, and my world changed instantly and profoundly", Kimmelman said in a statement. "They might not have been anxious when he cried".

Ferraro stated that she has hopes that Julia would be able to help children familiarize themselves with people with autism in their lives so that "it's familiar, and they see they can be their friends too".

The episode Meet Julia airs on 10 April on U.S. channels HBO and PBS and additional videos featuring Julia will be available online.

Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street? "And [they] would have known that he plays in a different way, and that that's okay". They say every child with autism is different, and Julia is just one illustration.

The creative team behind Sesame Street's newest addition worked with autism organisations to decide which characteristics Julia should have and how best to normalise autism for all children.
