Delta to offer up to $10000 to flyers who give up seats

Also Friday afternoon, Delta upped the amount of compensation employees can offer customers to give up seats on overbooked flights.

Drop United has already received numerous five star reviews, which thank the app's anonymous creator for assisting the growing boycott, while also joking about the incident with United Airlines.

The Associated Press reported Friday that an internal memo from Delta shows gate agents can now offer up to $2,000 in compensation, up from an $800 limit, while supervisors can dish out a maximum of $9,950 (up from $1,350).

Delta is authorizing its supervisors to offer a displaced passenger nearly $10,000 in compensation. It needs to look at its business and realize that passengers are its lifeblood, and because of that they need to be treated with the utmost respect and compassion and to make sure that unnecessary events like this never happen again.

"I think it was a wake up call and a learning experience for everybody involved".

The internet was furious at United Airlines this past weekend after troubling footage surfaced of a passenger being dragged from his seat and removed from the plane. It also appears that the flight in question was not overbooked, just full.

Dao had boarded the airplane, but then United selected him to lose his seat when the airline wanted to put four flight crew members on the flight from Chicago to Louisville, Ky.

The trade union for United pilots issued a statement April 13 denying any responsibility for the incident. Dao refused to get off and was dragged away, his face bloodied.

Richard Bell said the insect fell from the overhead luggage rack onto his head after flight attendants distributed lunch on the flight from Houston, Texas to Calgary in Canada last week. Munoz said law enforcement will no longer be used to eject passengers who refuse to leave flights.

United Airlines has since announced that all passengers on Flight 3411 will receive refunds for their tickets.

He now needs a reconstructive operation, lawyer Thomas Demetrio said.

In a separate letter to United Airlines, Hawaii Senator Mazie Hirono joined a group of senators earlier this week to demand answers from the airline.

"We are urging members of Congress to use this as an opportunity to put in place consumer protections that now either don't exist or aren't being enforced by the Department of Transportation", said Sally Greenberg, the group's executive director.

If the airline can't convince enough travelers to volunteer, it can select passengers to rebook on the next available flight.
