Marc-Andre Fleury will start Saturday for Penguins in Game 2

On Friday, Crosby had a goal and two assists, Guentzel added a goal and an assist and Sheary provided a heads-up assist as Pittsburgh beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 to seize a 2-0 lead in a first-round Eastern Conference playoff series.

To hear Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford tell it, back at the National Hockey League trade deadline in March, he didn't really come close to moving veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Fleury admitted to some jitters when he was suddenly thrust into the lineup with barely 20 minutes to prepare after Murray was a late scratch before Game 1 with a lower-body injury - and responded with a 31-save masterpiece.

Murray did not practice Thursday, and he did not have a dressing room stall at the Penguins practice facility. Enter Fleury, who skated onto the PPG Paints Arena ice to a massive ovation then spent the first period singlehandedly keeping the uncharacteristically flat Penguins in it.

The victim's persistence was rewarded with a 3-1 Penguins victory. Murray's performance is why he took the starting reins and ran with them during the 2015-16 Stanley Cup run, with his mettle as a starting goaltender proven by his ability to stick around in Conn Smythe Trophy discussions throughout the post-season.

It took all of four minutes of the second period for Pittsburgh to flip momentum completely. "But now that we get past the deadline and going down the stretch here, it's going to be important to have two healthy and fresh goalies going into the playoffs".

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is Friday night at Bell Centre.

"When he play like this it's much easier for us", Malkin said.

Either the Blue Jackets probably aren't going to play less physical in front of a frothing home crowd, either. The team is comfortable around Fleury, feeling confident in his abilities and experience.

Rust gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead at 1:15 of the second.

Getting stabbed in the head with a screwdriver wasn't enough to sideline one Pittsburgh Penguins fan from watching his team play on Wednesday night. Hard to argue with any of it, especially the last part given the rock 'em, sock 'em approach many Penguins expected from Columbus in this one. The Oilers and star Connor McDavid took a quick 2-0 lead. Which teams have the best backup plans and which have the worst?

Frank Vatrano added a goal for Boston in his National Hockey League playoff game, and Tuukka Rask made 26 saves.

Kessel is pretty darn good in the regular season, but he just seems to love the postseason - after Wednesday's goal, he now has 45 points in 47 playoff games.
