Tim Howard lost his cool with some heckling fans and it will cost him three games. We're likely to see Zac MacMath against us in goal, who played 17 games in goal for the Rapids a year ago before being unceremoniously dropped for an incoming Howard.

Major League Soccer has suspended USA men's national team goalkeeper Tim Howard for three games and issued an undisclosed fine for a pair of altercations with fans after the Colorado Rapids' game at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.

Some fans claimed that the 38-year-old also put his middle finger up to the crowd while, after the final whistle, Howard squared up to Kansas' Dom Dwyer.

He is usually the most animated Rapid on the pitch, but leadership is expected from the goalkeeper position in the professional ranks, and Howard is known for being a great "quarterback" from the back.

Tim Howard will hope to rebound this weekend after a rather rough time in Kansas City last weekend. Dwyer later told FS1 that he didn't understand what it was all about.

MLS also has video of Howard in a physical confrontation with a fan in the tunnel at Children's Mercy Park after the game.

This is Howard's second season with the Rapids, who hired the former Everton and Manchester United keeper for some late-career work. "While this is out of character for Tim, we do not condone these actions", the Rapids said in a statement Friday.

'Everyone at the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club stands behind Tim and we look forward to welcoming him back to the pitch in the near future'. He of three World Cups and numerous United States national teams, Howard did not exactly rise above the bait.
