Wanted: Cleveland Facebook Shooting Suspect

Robert Godwin Sr

Cleveland cops on Sunday were hunting a man who they believe shot and killed another person in a horrifying, Easter afternoon attack - that was brazenly broadcast live on Facebook.

Police said Sunday night Stephens may have now left the state and they are warning residents of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan and NY to be on alert. "Call 911 if you see vehicle", Williams said.

"She's the reason that this is about to happen to you", the shooter says. Police are also telling residents of Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania and NY to be on the lookout, as Stephens could possibly be in any of those states. But based on the fact that they know he was in Cleveland yesterday, and he may have been in Erie today, the widening of the net involves everywhere he could reasonably get to in the timeframe available.

The victim has been identified by Cleveland police as 74-year-old Robert Godwin. "We know he's out there", Cleveland police chief Calvin Williams said. "He could be far away or anywhere in between", Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Stephen Anthony said on the second day of the manhunt. He did not elaborate on the call, other than to say the detective attempted to convince Stephens to surrender.

Mr Williams said that "multiple forces" were looking for Mr Stephens, who "needs to turn himself in". "We are still asking Steve to turn himself in, but if he doesn't we will find him".

Stephens is black, just over 6-feet tall and bald with a full beard. They said Stephens might be driving a white or cream-colored Ford Fusion, and that he was armed and risky. Authorities meanwhile warned that the suspect might be armed and unsafe, given that he had threatened to kill again. Stephens fires the weapon. Godwin recoiled and fell to the ground. In the wake of the shooting, dozens of GoFundMe pages popped up to offer financial assistance to the family. I once FaceBook became aware of it they took it down by it. However, police said they have no evidence to support that after checking several locations.

To urge the importance of only following accurate updates, Cleveland police issued a warning on Twitter late Sunday stating "misinformation in emergencies is unsafe".

She also said Stephens was "a nice guy" who was generous to everyone and was "kind and loving" to her and her children. This is a very hard time for me and my family Please respect our privacy at this time.

Green, a former clerk at the Justice Center Complex in Cleveland who is now on disability, said the conversation confused her. "He would give you the shirt off his back", Godwin Jr. said.

The video shed little light on the motive behind the shooting. "That's why he is shooting people and he won't stop until his mother or girlfriend tell him to stop".

Cleveland State University issued a shelter in place while police search for the suspect. The chief also said as of 9 a.m., there are no other known victims.

Stephens is an employee at Beech Brook, a "leading behavioral health agency" in northeast Ohio.

"We are shocked. We learned about the incident via Facebook". "To think that one of our employees could do this is terrible".

She says police are seeking a man named Steve Stephens.

"Although, the suspect did go live at one point during the day", the spokesperson said.

The father of nine was shot and killed in a residential area of the city while walking home from Easter lunch, according to WOIO-TV. I hate he's gone. I don't know what I'm going to do.
