Facebook CEO sees augmented reality's future in the camera

A nationwide manhunt for suspect Steve Stephens was in its third day Tuesday.

Facebook said the video was posted after the killing but was not broadcast on Facebook Live as police initially indicated.

A makeshift memorial sits along a fence today near where Robert Godwin Sr., was killed in Cleveland. The company said that Stephens posted a video of himself announcing his intent to commit murder, then two minutes later posted another video of himself shooting and killing Godwin. "As a result of this bad series of events, we are reviewing our reporting flows to be sure people can report videos and other material that violates our standards as easily and quickly as possible", - Facebook Vice President Justin Osofsky said in a blog post. But as the manhunt dragged on today for the man accused of posting Facebook footage of himself killing a retiree, police were unable to explain what set him off.

In the U.S., a nationwide manhunt is on for the suspect, one Steve Stephens, who police believe randomly shot a man - identified as 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr - walking down a sidewalk in Cleveland.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Cleveland police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said that Stephens may have left the state and cautioned residents off Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and IN to be on alert.

"He could be nearby".

Law enforcement officials said his cellphone signal was last detected on Sunday afternoon in Erie, Pennsylvania, about 100 miles east of Cleveland. But they said there was no sign he was actually there.

"Like I said, I killed 13, so I'm working on 14 as we speak", he said. He filed for bankruptcy two years ago. Stephens' Facebook page also was eventually removed. Stephens says the name of a woman, whom Godwin does not seem to recognise.

The police chief said: "We are not going to pinpoint a specific thing and say this is what triggered this, because we don't know".

Godwin apparently was shot while out picking up cans in a plastic shopping bag, his daughter said.

"Not because he needed the money, it was just something he did", Debbie Godwin, 52, said. "He wasn't harming anyone". They hugged and comforted each other, while urging an end to the violence on their city streets. He then asks Godwin his age before gunning him down.

Lane, in a text message to CBS News commenting on the shooting, said she was "sorry that all of this has happened".

Stephens made his living mentoring teens in Cleveland, but his life appeared to be unraveling under the weight of gambling debts and trouble with his girlfriend, authorities say.

Tammy Godwin wanted to make sure her father's killer knew just what was taken from them - a good man who was the rock of his family.

Investigators said that Godwin was the only victim so far linked to Stephens, despite his claim in a separate video on Facebook that he killed more than a dozen people.

Meanwhile, police said that they had received dozens of tips about the possible location of Cleveland suspect Steve Stephens. Stephens had worked since 2008 as a vocational specialist and youth mentor at Beech Brook, a behavioral health agency located outside Cleveland. Beech Brook's offices were closed on Monday.

"He was an easy client to deal with", Binger said.
