"It was a lovely launch", said Vern Thorp, ULA's program manager for commercial missions.

April 18 A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket lifted off from Florida on Tuesday, propelling a cargo capsule filled with supplies and science experiments toward the International Space Station.

A unique view of the launch will be available through the new NASA 360-Degree panorama cameras.

Cygnus has flown a number of resupply runs in the past.

Atop the rocket was an Orbital ATK Cygnus capsule loaded with more than 7,600 pounds (3,450 kg) of food, supplies and experiments for the station, a $100 billion research lab flying about 250 miles (400 km) above Earth. A 30-minute window for the launch is scheduled to open at 11:11 a.m. "This is the first time that this has ever been attempted and. we will review today's 360º setup and endeavor to bring this new perspective of a rocket launch to everyone in the future".

"We are sorry we missed Easter", said Culbertson, a former NASA astronaut, "but we're pretty sure they'll be excited about their Easter baskets and whatever great things International Space Station science put on board for them". The supply ship is known as the Cygnus after the swan constellation, and in this case has been named the S.S. John Glenn. "Nearby, a computer protected by a blast-proof box will stitch images together in near-real time". Live 360 technology offers advanced capacities that can be used efficiently during the launch of space missions to give viewers a more immersive experience.

Glenn became the first American to orbit the world in 1962 - launching on an Atlas rocket - and the oldest person to fly in space in 1998 aboard the shuttle Discovery. The astronaut died in December 2016. The flight was initially slated for March but delayed due to issues of hydraulics and ground equipment. Finally, congratulations to NASA, ULA and Orbital ATK for their shared teamwork in commemorating a champion of human spaceflight through the S.S. John Glenn.
