Massachusetts authorities say Aaron Hernandez killed himself in his prison cell Wednesday morning. More

An official revealed that Hernandez was found hanging in his cell just after 3 pm on Wednesday.

Roughly 12 hours after former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's death in his MA prison cell, the team he once played for was on the South Lawn of the White House celebrating their fifth Super Bowl championship.

Hernandez was alone in a cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts.

"There's no indication he left a suicide note", said Christopher Fallon, a spokesman for the Department of Correction.

Monroe, a graphic designer, said Hernandez's temperament stayed even-keeled throughout the two-month trial, where prosecutors fingered him as the triggerman who killed the Cape Verdean men following a nightclub dispute. Hernandez's attorney, Jose Baez, said his firm also will launch its own investigation. According to a report in the Boston Globe, Hernandez's death may impact his conviction in the 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd.

The Patriots organization has yet to release a statement on the passing of Hernandez, and will reportedly cease from releasing such at this time.

Hernandez, a standout tight end on the 2008 University of Florida's national championship team, is drafted by the New England Patriots.

Still, he was a productive tight end for the Patriots for three seasons. He caught 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns in his second year to help the team reach the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, Hernandez had been troubled and was a known trouble-maker, but the depths to which he fell during his prime amount to a life wasted. As the jury was deliberating, cameras spied Hernandez blowing kisses to the young daughter he fathered with fiancee Shayanna Jenkins.

Investigators suggested Hernandez shot Lloyd to keep him quiet about the two earlier killings. A lawyer who represents Lloyd's mother said she's moving forward with a wrongful-death lawsuit against Hernandez's estate, which includes a home valued at $1.3 million.

In the Dorchester neighborhood where Lloyd grew up, a family friend of the victim wondered if Hernandez could no longer bear the weight of his crime and his squandered potential. "You've got a heart".

"When the verdict was said, a lot of people were emotional, and I looked over and I thought he was crying tears of joy", said Monroe, who sat on the Suffolk County jury that acquitted Hernandez in the murders of Daniel de Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28. "It just doesn't add up".
