Frenetic fortnight to judge Madrid's season, Zidane's future

The France global has played down talk of a move to United though, questioning whether he would be able to settle in England after spending his entire professional career in Spain.

Pepe endured a double rib break in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid that's cast uncertainty over whether his campaign is over, using the expert hoping to prolong his stay in the team.

They are said to be lining up a lucrative new contract in a bid to convince Griezmann to stay, but even manager Simeone is uncertain on the striker's future.

Where do you think Griezmann should play next season?

The French global said: "I can't say "yes" or "no". We had the chances to have got it.

'As I often say, I am here.

"We need the best of Antoine", said Simeone on Friday.

'I continue to work hard, to enjoy my football and I am happy on the pitch as you saw today'. Real's play has been littered with lapses of concentration in defence and they have often had to rely on late escape acts to see them through hard games.

Zidane was appointed in January a year ago after Benitez - now at Newcastle United - was sacked with Madrid third in LaLiga at the time and reports suggesting that senior players had become frustrated with the team's approach.

The France global is contracted until mid-2021 and Filipe Luis believes the talented forward will remain at Atletico.

The result moves Madrid three points clear of champions Barcelona, who face Malaga at La Rosaleda later on Saturday. All of these things excite me, not just from him but from any player - coming from a really talented player even more because it is more hard.

"They have won a lot of trophies, they have played a lot of finals as well". And the Los Blancos want him to be the long-term replacement for their current "Galactico", Cristiano Ronaldo, who turns 33 next February.
