"The family and legal team is shocked and surprised at the news of Aaron's death", Jose Baez, Hernandez's attorney, said in a statement.
The former National Football League star's lawyer, Jose Baez, is one of the many people shocked that his client would have taken his own life days after his acquittal of double murder.
William T. Kennedy, who represents the families of de Abreu and Furtado, said their wrongful-death lawsuits will still go forward, only this time against Hernandez's estate.

Governor Baker said he has full faith and confidence in the commissioner of the D.O.C and that no one should assume anything until the results of the investigation are complete. That means Hernandez will likely have his conviction for the murder of Odin Lloyd - in addition to the gun charge associated with it - overturned.
