After the ASEAN meeting, Duterte and Widodo will fly to Davao to witness the launch of the Davao-Gensan-Bitung Roro route on April 30.
According to Paynor, Widodo's visit will be in reciprocation to the state visit of Duterte to Indonesia last September.
These are among the highlights of the country's chairmanship of the ASEAN. "The United States is proud to partner with Indonesia, to promote and protect these values", Pence said.
"You know, when there is a break, they go and then discuss whatever matters they may wish to bring up with President Duterte".
"So at least verbally he said he was coming", said Paynor, who also heads the National Organizing Committee of this year's ASEAN Summit.
On April 26, a meeting of Asean Committee of Permanent Representatives will be held.
As this year's chair of ASEAN, the Philippines is host to 137 ASEAN meetings spread out during the entire year.
He said the Trump administration would work with ASEAN on security issues and trade and freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.
"In our security preparations, [we are] keeping in mind also the President's directive that we should not hamper or hinder the normal flow of daily activities here in the Metro Manila area".
But, ASEAN experts like Ibrahim Almuttaqi of the Jakarta-based Habibie Center remained cautious about the prospect of a more engaged U.S. government.
