Family of Kentucky man pulled from plane to hold press conference

"I have to see patients at 8 o'clock

'This will never happen again on a United flight.

"This will never happen again", Munoz said during the Wednesday interview with the morning show.

"The last thing a paying airline passenger should expect is a physical altercation with law enforcement personnel after boarding, especially one that could likely have been avoided", they said. He gave an apology in an interview with ABC News' Rebecca Jarvis in Chicago, as he responded to the worldwide outrage prompted by video of Dao being pulled from his seat last Sunday and dragged by his hands down the aisle of a plane.

United CEO Oscar Munoz apologized Wednesday for an incident that occurred Sunday aboard a United Airlines flight, when a man was forcibly removed from a plane when the flight was overbooked. Video footage showed the man screaming as he was pulled along the aisle of the plane.

Munoz called the embarrassment a "system failure" and said United would reassess its procedures for seeking volunteers to give up their seats when a flight is full. "They all have an incredible amount of common sense and this issue could have been solved by that", he added. This issue could have been solved by that. Dao says, "Drag me then. And my initial words fell short of truly expressing what we were feeling".

"I don't think anyone looks at that video and isn't a little disturbed that another human being is being treated that way", said Spicer on Tuesday. "That's something I've learned from. The expression of apology.is an important part of a conversation like this".

Shares of United Continental were about flat in morning trading.

On China's Sina Weibo, #UnitedAirlinesforcespassengeroffplane was still pinned as one of the most talked-about topics on the microblogging site's front page. Many responded with outrage over perceived ethnic bias against the passenger and some called for a boycott of the USA -based airline.

Two online petitions calling for Mr Munoz to resign have gained 64,000 signatures and 75,000 signatures respectively. "That's my promise", said Mr Munoz. The bloodied passenger - Dr. David Dao - screamed as police dragged him off the packed plane in order to fit more crew on board.

But when asked if he would stand down, he said: "I was hired to make United better and we've been doing that and that's what I'll continue to do". In the next step on its stumbling apology tour, United has announced that every other passenger who was on that flight will be compensated for their fare.
