Eden Gardens Kolkata will witness first action in the Indian Premier League Season 10 when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) take on a happening Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in what promises to be a high-voltage encounter. The legendary South African Kallis, however, chose not to give a time frame of Lynn's return and said they do not want to rush the Aussie batsman, who had undergone a surgery on the same shoulder in 2014.
Lynn's left shoulder has proven consistently troublesome, this being the third time he has injured it in the last two years. He fell hard while diving to try and catch Jos Buttler near the long-off boundary, having run back at speed from mid-off.
The KKR management has said its medical team would need a few days to establish Lynn's availability for the rest of the tournament.
Lynn started his IPL campaign with a swashbuckling 93 against Gujarat Lions, setting the stage for a productive season in the cash-rich league. Lynn hurt his left shoulder while fielding during the four-wicket loss against Mumbai Indians. KXIP, in good form, will be eager to change that record a little by beating KKR on Thursday.
Umesh was the pick of the quick bowlers in the recently concluded India-Australia series, scalping 17 wickets in eight innings.
Umesh missed KKR's first two matches due to soreness in his right hip and lower back.
"Umesh Yadav is all geared up to make a thumping start in IPL", KKR posted a working-out picture of the 29-year-old who tweeted: "Ami KKR".
Umesh along with Trent Boult and Chris Woakes are going to be a huge force with the ball if there is good purchase from the re-laid playing surface. Ankit Rajpoot, who claimed three wickets in the match, experienced the bitter side of bowling in the death. Overall, they have finished on top in just six games, with KKR winning the remaining 13.
