Questions abound in aftermath of National Football League star Hernandez's death

Aaron Hernandez's lawyer says he intends to conduct his own investigation into the National Football League star's hanging death. A lawyer who represents Lloyd's mother said she's moving forward with a wrongful-death lawsuit against Hernandez's estate, which includes a home valued at $1.3 million.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said: "We are aware of the reports but I don't anticipate that we will be commenting today". State police spokesman Dave Procopio also cited the "active" investigation in not releasing more information.

Nearly 12 hours after Aaron Hernandez was pronounced dead, more details are coming out surrounding what happened before he committed suicide in his jail cell using a bed sheet at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts. Authorities tried to revive the former New England Patriots tight end, and he was pronounced dead at UMass Memorial - HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster at 4:07 a.m.

Prison officials say the Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population housing unit at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Massachusetts They say he hanged himself using a bed sheet that he attached to a cell window.

Early says Massachusetts' chief medical examiner is conducting an autopsy in Boston to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The King James version of the verse reads, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

Prison officials say Hernandez jammed the door to prevent officers from entering, didn't leave a suicide note and wasn't on suicide watch because he didn't appear to be at risk.

Hernandez's family wanted his brain turned over to Boston University's CTE centre, his attorney Jose Baez said.

Alex Cugno (KOOG'-no) grew up with the former New England Patriots tight end in Bristol, Connecticut.

Friends also were grieving in CT, where Hernandez was raised.

Injuries from Aaron Hernandez's football days may have contributed to his unexpected suicide, his family believes.

The newspaper said Hernandez attorney Ronald Sullivan wrote in an email Thursday that Hernandez was on the phone with Shayanna Jenkins-Hernandez about seven hours before he was found hanging in his cell.

He told reporters Thursday that any time someone takes their own life in prison "something clearly went wrong".

"The family does not have confidence in this medical examiner's office", Baez said.

He had been serving a life sentence without parole for the 2013 slaying of a onetime friend.

The governor acknowledged there are "a million rumors" flying around, but none has been substantiated and he cautioned against jumping to conclusions.

Last week, Hernandez was acquitted of all but a gun charge in a lengthy trial in the 2012 shooting deaths of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu.

Convicted killer and former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was found hanged in his prison cell early Wednesday morning, according to officials.

The Faggas Funeral Home in Watertown, Massachusetts, confirmed to the AP that it received the body but that funeral services will likely be held elsewhere for the CT native.

Owner Nicole Faggas told the Globe there are no plans to hold services there.
