Vineland family meets Kellyanne Conway at White House Easter Egg roll

US First Lady Melania Trump saved her husband from a potentially embarrassing breach of protocol over Easter weekend - when the US President forgot to put his hand on his heart for the national anthem.

But the one guest that truly matters on Easter did make an appearance - the Easter Bunny, or, at least, a slightly creepier, slightly more shocked, and slightly visually impaired version of the Easter Bunny.

It was his first Easter egg roll, and he said while he and his father, Jack, waited for Trump to appear that the experience had been "great". Unfortunately, the President committed two gaffes, not including the undercover Donnie Darko bunny.

All eyes have been on the Trump administration for the Easter event, which draws huge crowds.

The irony of Donald Trump's Slovenian-born wife Melania gently nudging the president during the American National Anthem has not been lost on the eagle-eyed Twitteratti, who have been reacting to the viral moment.

Trump's wife, Melania, and their son, Barron, 11, and the Easter Bunny joined him on a balcony before they joined some of the 21,000 people who were expected to attend.

"We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before", said Trump, before wishing the crowd a happy Easter under overcast skies in Washington.

"On behalf of the president and (our son) Barron, we wish you great fun and lovely days coming ahead of us", Xinhua news agency quoted the first lady as saying.

'I just want to thank First Lady Melania Trump, ' Trump followed.

It's an event at the White House that brings out thousands of families for fun, colorful eggs, and a few games. In addition, it is celebrated annually for 138 years, but in 2017, it seems that things didn't work out that well and some of you watching the live transmission were impressed due to all the weird things that happened during the ceremony.
