Giannis Antetokounmpo Dazzles in Playoff Debut for Milwaukee Bucks

I still have the Raptors winning this series in six or seven games but I think the Bucks will reclaim the lead with a narrow win in front of a packed house in Game 3.

Kyle Lowry only had four points, and it took him 11 shots and a free throw to get there.

Some had multiple up-close looks as they basically forced the ball out of Antetokounmpo's hands as often as they could by showing up in bunches every time he even thought about going to the basket. I think I tried to (go on a similar rant) past year but I didn't do as good a job as he did last night. Hawes switched onto Lowry and played solid defence, but fouled Lowry while he took an ugly three. This was supposed to be a break out year for the young Bucks, right until their top guy Middleton suffered an offseason knee injury that cost him several months. He threw it to Serge and Serge gave it to me. But there's two teams in this series, so let me ask this: on a scale of 1 to "shook" (relevant NSFW link), just how rattled are the Raptors?

The problem is that the Jazz have so much more depth, which is why they were able to eek out a win in spite of losing defensive superstar Rudy Gobert in the first 11 seconds of the first game with a bruised knee.

"This was a game where we knew they were going to come out hungry", said Brogdon. "We just want to get home".

Last season against Indy Lowry went just 2-for-9 in the opener and returned in Game 2 to give the Raptors 14 points and nine boards in a win. Thank you for saving not only the Toronto Raptors from an increasingly inevitable first round defeat, but also yourself from an unrelenting wave of ridicule that was sure to drown us all if not for your Game 2 performance. "You've got to kick out, you've got to make shots against those guys, their length is their strength".

Had the Raptors not gotten so hot from deep, we might have been panicking over a 0-2 deficit today headed back to Milwaukee for Games 3 and 4. A rookie, Brogdon has provided a calming and steady presence at point guard on both end of the floor.

Lowry scored just four points as the third-seeded Raptors dropped an ugly 97-83 loss to sixth-seeded Milwaukee in Game 1, and the talk around practice in the days since had been about playing with more ferocity. Toronto led 55-52 at the half. Antetokounmpo went for 28 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and one block in the Bucks' surprising domination of the Raptors in Toronto, dunking over anyone who dared attempt to impede his progress to the rim, and hitting an array of jumpers to boot.

So in the end the Toronto Raptors tried to be themselves, but better.

Lowry got to the line nine times, shot 50 percent from the field and got five dimes to go with his 22 points.

The first half saw the Westbrook that the Thunder wanted and the Westbrook the rest of the National Basketball Association feared - Westbrook had 22 points and 10 assists in the first 24 minutes.

The Raptors won the season series 3-1, a season after sweeping the Bucks in the regular season series.

The Raptors were ahead by eight points with 7:34 to play in the third quarter after Valanciunas made a hook shot. Kidd can take some confidence away from the opening game, knowing that the offense can be effective when running through Monroe, instead of seeing it being held up. Khris Middleton added 20 points of his own.

The Bucks' defense, which was such an integral part of their second-half surge during the regular season, was stifling in Game 1.

NEED TO KNOW Boston point guard Isaiah Thomas is preparing to play Game 2 before flying out to Tacoma, Wash., to be with his family to finalize funeral arrangements for his younger sister Chyna Thomas, 22, who died in a vehicle accident early Saturday. Serge Ibaka is also a game-time decision for tonight's game, but is expected to play. Then the Bucks went on a 15-4 run.

Antetokounmpo scored on a three-pointer - and flexed his biceps on his way back down the court - to tie the game with two minutes left.
