Georgia signee D'Antne Demery released after arrest in Athens

According to multiple reports, he was introduced along with a number of 2017 Georgia signees at halftime of the school's G-Day spring game on Saturday.

"Cops say Demery, who's 6'7" and 310 lbs, admitted making physical contact with the victim.

According to details of an incident report provided to ESPN by an Athens-Clarke County police spokesman, officers were dispatched to a Waffle House because of a report of a man "choking [strangling] a female". As the argument escalated, she told police she began to walk off. Demery allegedly said, "Walk off again, and I'm a show you".

The woman told police she began to walk away again, at which point Demery allegedly grabbed her on the back her neck, pushed her against a wall and grabbed her hair.

They were eventually separated by friends. Demery was eventually able to reconnect with the victim, in which he threw her; causing her glasses to fall off, and her phone fell out of her hand; causing it to hit the ground which resulted in a crack to the screen.

He remained incarcerated as of 11 a.m. Sunday.

Demery was booked in the Athens-Clarke County jail Saturday night on charges of misdemeanor criminal trespass and simple battery.

Demery, an offensive lineman and native of Brunswick, Georgia, was rated the No. 35 offensive tackle in the country according to Rivals and the No. 34 prospect in the state of Georgia. He was arrested by Athens-Clarke County police.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart's decision on Demery was announced about an hour after the player bonded out of jail. The victim called 911 and said she wished to press charges. The release follows Demery's arrest Saturday night. There was also a witness. The victim advised that Demery has been physically violent with her in the past.
