Support For Marijuana Legalization Now At an All-Time High

Out of all the parents surveyed (not just the ones who have smoked pot), marijuana wasn't labeled the top concern for their kids.

Attitudes towards marijuana are changing in America. According to the poll, 61 percent of Americans now believe pot should be legal, a five point increase from just past year. Medical marijuana was not subjected to the 10 percent special sales or 15 percent excise tax.

Almost three-quarters of respondents, or 71 percent, said they oppose federal crackdowns on marijuana sales and use in these states, including 76 percent of Democrats, 72 percent of independents and 63 percent of Republicans, according to survey results. That suggests that even many people who say it's as risky as other drugs such as heroin perhaps don't truly believe that.

About 100 people showed up for the roundtable, which Carney's office scheduled after many residents floated legalizing marijuana during his recent string of community meetings on his proposed budget.

More generally on the topic of drug abuse, 69 percent think that should be treated as an addiction and mental health problem rather than a criminal offense. Marijuana is still illegal under federal law.

According to the poll, support for legalization has risen among all age groups, though mostly among those under 55.

Farrell's postgame comments caused the Boston media to target Machado as the bad guy, which was most likely Farrell's intentions. As MLB.com's Jeff Seidel reported , Pedroia said, "I don't even know what the rule is". "Manny always does something wrong".

More than half of all states have legalized medical marijuana.

Federal law still prohibits marijuana use, however the previous administration declared it would not enforce federal marijuana laws, with former President Barack Obama saying that attempting to enforce a "patchwork where something that's legal in one state could get you a 20-year prison sentence in another", is "untenable over the long term".

Colorado implemented legalized recreational marijuana in 2014, making it among the first states in the country to do so.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is sure not to favor this outcome.

The poll's results put support for legal weed up five percent from 2016, when 56 percent supported it, a 21 percent from 2011 - it had a mere 40 percent support back then. Data collection was conducted on behalf of CBS News by SSRS of Media, PA. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cell phones.
