Star Wars Battlefront II Officially Revealed, Out This November

Experience rich and living Star Wars™ multiplayer battlegrounds across prequels, original trilogy, and the new era.

As for the rest of it: the hero (?) of our new Star Wars adventure is Iden Versio, who leads the Imperial special forces unit known as Inferno Squad.

Star Wars: Battlefront II is definitely happening and it will have a single-player story (if you still had any doubts). In the new game players will live the untold Star Wars story of Iden, an elite Stormtrooper, in an new singleplayer story campaign.

"We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven't seen before in Star Wars", Motive game director Mark Thompson said in a statement. There's just one thing - you'll be playing the bad guy.

Her father was a high-ranking official from The Empire, perhaps influencing her.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is out later this year on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This differs from the game's predecessor in that, in Star Wars: Battlefront, players only had the opportunity to play as a hero by picking up boosts spread around the battlefield. There'll be a bounty of heroes to play as too, including new ones like Yoda and Darth Maul, and new worlds and environments to battle in. The follow-up however, has already been confirmed to include a single-player campaign.

You'll do battle in land and in space, with "a deep progression and customisation system", according to EA and DICE. The same will go for vehicles, which will be more numerous, varied (you can ride a freaking tauntaun!), and easier to fly thanks to the team at Criterion, who was brought in to help with a frequent criticism of the first game. I personally loved it, it was a great little diversion from other VR titles and made me feel like I was inside a cockpit of a fighter from Star Wars. Players can pick between the Officer, Assault, Heavy, and Specialist classes with each having their own weapons and equipment. Although, if you buy the deluxe edition described below you can get it three days early.
