Howard The Duck's Role In The Future MCU Teased By Kevin Feige

The speculation that tipped fans off began at the United Kingdom premiere recently when Saldana was giving a journalist an update on the filming schedule of Avengers: Infinity War.

Just recently, Kevin Feige mentioned that what follows The Avengers 4 may not necessarily be Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn't even released yet and it's, in a way, considered old news. Fans are already looking further ahead. Well, I think some of us comic book geeks may have already gotten an idea of what to expect for the final part of MCU's Phase 3.

Feige: Truthfully, other than knowing that we're going to work with Sony on another Spiderman film for that year, and that James [Gunn] is committed to continuing with the Guardians at some point; it's all about Phase 3. "It was really Guardians and then odd and now Guardians 2 which is saying, 'Okay, the audience is gonna stay with us on this.' Why even attempt to make a movie out of the Infinity Gauntlet if you can't really do a lot of the insane things that happen in that Jim Starlin imagination". "As you know from the comics, there are so many places to go and so many more characters, and there are a few characters hinted at in the [end] tag scenes of Vol. 2".

That "Cosmic Universe" and "new age" may refer to Feige's recent statements about the MCU not using "Phases" anymore. Indeed one of the premiere Avengers, Iron Man, became a member of the #Guardians' team not that long ago. Fandango took a guess at who it could be, but Feige just laughed and left it cryptic, stating, "It's exciting!"

Gunn previously hid a famously-cryptic Easter egg in the first film and as of yet nobody has been able to find it, and now there's another one to look out for in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage.

Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will open in theaters on Friday, May 5th. While it would surely be a lot of fun to see some of the Earthbound MCU characters mixing it up with the team in space, this list is only going to feature cosmic-based Marvel characters.
