Samsung Announces In Traffic Reply App To Stop Distracted Driving

That's why Samsung announced its new In-Traffic Reply app to prevent distracted driving.

It will help reduce the social pressure to respond - the one that people feel whenever they get calls or messages while on the road. It will then send an automatic response to calls and texts. The app is able to do this through the smartphone's sensors like Global Positioning System, which is now a common feature on most smartphones these days.

Samsung, or more accurately, Samsung Electronics Benelux B.V, has announced that it is making available a new app which is created to assist mobile device owners while driving. You can choose the message sent out, too, from three options: the default "I'm driving, so I cannot answer at the moment", a "fun, animated response", or a custom reply of your own making.

Samsung's upcoming app isn't really an original idea. Also, this isn't exactly a revolutionary new idea, as apps such as SMS Auto Reply in the Play Store have been doing it for years now. In 2015, distracted driving also caused 3,477 deaths in the U.S. However, I still want to give credit to Samsung for creating something to help drivers be safe.

The app is now in beta in the Netherlands, and should roll out to the Play Store in May.

While vehicle drivers will benefit from the app as well, those users who ride a bike are expected to benefit the most as texting while riding can prove to be fatal and should not be done in any situation whatsoever. As this app doesn't require user interaction in order to respond to messages, it can prove to be extremely useful to users who are driving.
