First 100 Days: What Trump has done to Obamacare

Former President Barack Obama hailed the political resilience of his signature health care law at a private event Thursday, pointing out that Obamacare is now more popular than his successor trying to repeal it: President Donald Trump.

One person who'd heard the remarks paraphrased them for CNN: Obama said "the Affordable Care Act has never been more popular ― and it's more popular than the current president".

With Trump's approval ratings hovering around 40%, setting record lows for a new administration, Obama's embattled health care act is now more popular than the president seeking to repeal it - a point Obama has apparently been reveling in. According to the New York Post, Obama received a standing ovation when he entered the room and was asked about what he missed most about the White House. The same survey showed that 47 percent of Americans like ObamaCare.

Others that oppose Barack's decision to be a part of the event argue that it undermines his attacks on income inequality, as well as makes him a hypocrite considering that during his time as president he railed against Wall Street bankers.

A&E's History Makers lunch event was hosted by the network's chief Nancy Dubuc and featured historian and Pulitzer prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin interviewing Obama.

These comments from President Trump's predecessor come just hours before his landmark 100th day in office. The talk will be at a healthcare event sponsored by Wall Street bank Cantor Fitzgerald.
