Samsung posts 2nd-biggest profit in Q1 on chips, display sales

Samsung has been a big beneficiary of the industry dynamics, as it is the world's largest memory manufacturer.

During its Q1 2017 financial results, Samsung also made the revelation that it was going to be announcing a new flagship during the second half of this year. From January to March this year, Koreans have achieved an operating profit of 9.9 trillion Won or $8.75 billion. This is a clear indication that users must not let their dogs or any other pets use the device as their chew-toy. However, South Korean users, as well as some tech journalists and other beta users had the access to the phone nearly right after the launch.

Despite the Galaxy Note 7 debacle and company head in jail on corruption charges, Samsung Electronics reported its best quarter profits in more than three years. Samsung's consolidated revenues increased by about 6% year-over-year to about $43.86 billion (based on average monthly USD-KRW exchange rates), while its operating profits expanded by 54% to $8.59 billion. Total sales for the quarter of 50.55 trillion won (about $48.5 billion) were down 2 percent compared to the seasonally strong fourth quarter but up 5 percent compared with the first quarter of 2016.

The fingerprint scanner is featured on the back of the Galaxy Note 8 similar to the Galaxy S8, but in a much more comfortable position that on the Galaxy S8.

And Samsung has also been rocked by political woes, as its vice chairman and heir apparent Jay Y. Lee is now on trial over an influence-peddling scandal in South Korea.

The Galaxy S8 might be the talk of the town at the moment, but updates are still flowing to devices like the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Well, the latest Android security patch for the month of April is not the only thing that this new OTA release comes with. Now that the South Korean company enter into the new era of the mobile designs, imagining this new phablet will really give you a chill.

Consumer Reports' Rich Fisco said, "Samsung's Galaxy line has always done well in our tests so we're interested to see if the S8 can knock its predecessor, the S7, out of the top spot in our ratings".
