Murdoch seeks fresh start as another Fox News luminary departs

"Bill has played a huge role in building Fox News to its present position as the nation's biggest and most important cable channel in the history of the industry", Rupert Murdoch, co-executive chairman of Twenty-First Century Fox, said in a statement announcing Shine's resignation. Shine, who had been with Fox News for 20 years, was ousted amid ongoing sexual harassment allegations involving top executives and on-air talent.

Shine began at Fox News as Sean Hannity's producer and now that he is gone, all eyes turned to Hannity.

The recent lawsuits of Fox News commentator Julie Roginsky and suspended Fox News host Andrea Tantaros allege that Shine's dismissive behavior regarding such accusations continued after Ailes' departure. The show's former co-host, Sean Hannity, defended Shine in a series of tweets last week, saying Shine's ouster would be "the total end of the FNC as we know it". Even as Mr. Shine was removed, another veteran executive with deep ties to Mr. Ailes, Suzanne Scott, was promoted.

Fox News co-president Bill Shine is out of a job today.

Hannity did not immediately respond to a request for comment about Shine's departure.

The lawsuits against Fox News continue to mount. Jay also joined FOX News in 1996.

Scott, previously EVP, has been named as president, programming, Fox News Channel, while Wallace, previously EVP of news, has been named as president, news, Fox News Channel.

"Suzanne and Jay are recognized industry leaders", Murdoch said in the statement.

BILL SHINE: There were a couple of people who basically wrote about our demise come last November, December and were, I guess, rooting for us to go away.

While Hannity remains steadfast that his relationship with Fox News has not changed, other media outlets have reported otherwise.

She also sued Shine, asserting that he failed to investigate her claims.

It's worth pointing out Hannity's tweet is somewhat vague and he could easily start his show with some nonsense like, "well technically I'm not negotiating my exit because it's already been negotiated". Shine was not accused of harassment, but there were questions about what he knew about the network's workplace atmosphere for the years problems were going on.

Some at Fox believed Shine gave the network stability and continuity as it was buffeted by the Ailes and O'Reilly episodes.

Mr Ailes and Mr O'Reilly have denied the harassment allegations made against them. "Done." He added: "Somebody HIGH UP AND INSIDE FNC is trying to get an innocent person fired".
