The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Crew Reunite on The Late Show

Late Show host Stephen Colbert steps out of his normal persona to warn viewers about the dangers of Trump’s policies

Late Show host Stephen Colbert steps out of his normal persona to warn viewers about the dangers of Trump’s policies

Stephen Colbert's late night show, which serves as the platform for Colbert to throw controversial and oftentimes childish jokes at Donald Trump, had been the top USA late-night program in terms of total viewership for thirteen consecutive weeks by the end of April. "It was the greatest experience".

'I can't believe you're leaving us, ' echoed Helms.

"There's never gonna be another president this good for comedy", she said.

See what I mean about Thor? If you forgot, last Monday Colbert fired off a bunch of Trump attacks, including one in which he said, "the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's cock holster".

Then they started to wax nostalgic, as Stewart and Colbert told the story of how the two met. Colbert actually began at the show before Stewart did, and the two had their first encounter at the press conference introducing Stewart as the show's new host, replacing original leader Craig Kilborn.

I think we can all agree it's been a bit of a unusual week for Stephen Colbert. Before that, he worked for Daily Show from 1998.

When Stewart joined Colbert at the desk for a one-on-one, they made hay of the recent controversy surrounding Colbert's show, thanks to a vulgar joke he made about Trump last week.

"There are nights where I find myself impotently shouting into the abyss, which when you think about wasn't that different form what I did on a nightly basis", Stewart said. It features a lot of amusing foreshadowing, such as Rob Corddry naming Bill Cosby and Jared Fogle as his biggest heroes. "I'm sure he did amusing things too, but all I cared about was being amusing for him".

The show kicked off with Stewart, 54, preparing a large and savoury sandwich with a side of marigolds (not radishes).

If the reunion succeeded at anything, it was at showcasing the powerhouse of talent that The Daily Show with Jon Stewart brought to the cultural table.

Jon Stewart's biggest complaint about the reunion was how well everyone else on the Late Show stage had aged and how he looks like (to use his own words), a handful a potpourri. You know that feeling when you're the newbie at a gathering of old friends?

Inside Tuesday TV: In the second of two back-to-back episodes of Fox's Brooklyn Nine-Nine (8/7c), Amy (Melissa Fumero) goes missing just hours before she's to take her Sergeant's exam. ...

But it was Stewart who made the most cogent observation of the evening.

Crowding onto couches in a morning show style, the group went on to recall fond memories of the show that launched their careers.
