Sean Spicer evaded questions on Comey by 'hiding in a bush'

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Friday he was not aware of any recordings of conversations between FBI Director James Comey and President Trump, even as he insisted the president's early morning tweet speaks for itself.

In the initial moments after Comey's firing, Trump's press secretary, deputy press secretary and Vice President Mike Pence all said Trump's decision was based on the recommendation of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

"Most people in the bureau have not experienced something like this", one source said. One handy arts and crafts wiz, Lisa Kadonaga, on Facebook is helping to bring the Spicer imagery into the real world, creating cut-out lawn ornaments of the press secretary for fans to hide among their bushes.

"President Trump definitely views the Comey firing as a communication failure".

President Donald Trump doubled down on his threat to end the White House daily press briefing, calling it a "good idea".

During a press briefing, Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tried too hard to sell an answer to the Comey controversy that just didn't stick.

And then, in 1983, when the US led a multinational invasion of the small Caribbean island of Grenada, a rather tipsy American diplomat told a New York Times correspondent a mass grave had been discovered on the island, a page one story.

Comey was heading several bureau investigations, including one centered on Trump and his associates' possible ties to Russian Federation, which is believed to have interfered with the 2016 presidential election in which Trump defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. As I've said before, if I worked in the White House I'd be looking for a way to disable the president's Twitter account.

Nothing came of the new investigations, but Clinton later said the announcement was a significant factor in her surprise loss last November. He's so incompetent that it's a source of constant amusement to me, and to much of the rest of the country as well.

"'By removing director Comey we have taken steps to make this happen.' That's why we removed Director Comey", Maddow said, before showing a video of Sarah Huckabee Sanders fleeing from a follow-up question about the above link.

"Why were the American people given incorrect information that night?"

"The Fake Media is working overtime today!"

James Comey was sacked by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday. Each time, Spicer refused to answer.

"Just turn the lights off", he said, according to the Washington Post's account of his impromptu briefing, asking that he not be filmed.

Spicer conducted Friday's briefing after missing most of the week because of obligations as a member of the U.S. Navy reserve.
