Putin to provide transcripts of Trump, Lavrov conversation

Here’s what James Comey will do next Posted on Wednesday

A former FBI chief was tasked on Wednesday with leading a beefed-up investigation into whether Donald Trump's team colluded with Russian Federation to tilt the 2016 election in the president's favor.

Trump also allegedly asked Comey to stop investigating ties between his former national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian Federation - before Trump fired Comey.

Speaking at a joint news conference with the visiting Italian prime minister on Wednesday, Putin said he had "no other explanation" as to why Trump came under attack other than "political schizophrenia". And if so, when? On February 13, Flynn resigned from his post, acknowledging that he had provided White House officials with "incomplete information" over a phone call he'd had with the Russian ambassador to the U.S.

"They are distraught by what he's doing and continues to do", Illinois Sen.

Second-ranking Senate Democrat Dick Durbin told reporters, "Each day, as this unfolds, this pattern of obstruction of justice grows".

Recently, more Republicans have been willing to speak out publicly.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Tuesday that Republicans desire "less drama" from the White House. Putin even suggested that Russian Federation share the records of last week's talks between Trump and Lavrov with the U.S. Congress, if the White House approved. The President is a potential target of that investigation.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this piece referenced Amash as the first Republican congressman to raise the possibility of impeachment. First, impeachment is actually a relatively lengthy legal process - and no president has ever actually been removed from office.

After this week's revelations, Republicans took an increasingly aggressive tack.

On Tuesday, the New York Times revealed that President Trump may have interfered with the FBI's probe into his own presidential campaign, according to detailed memos from ex-FBI chief James Comey.

Responding to a question, Amash said Wednesday that could be grounds, "if the allegations are true".

Richard Blumenthal said in a statement that "we are witnessing an obstruction of justice case unfolding in real time". Comey's agency had been investigating the Russian issue, and he reportedly had requested more resources to pursue the investigation. It is the most intense activity surrounding the Russian Federation investigation to date.

Still, many Republicans are not ready to fling themselves into opening new investigations into connections between Trump's campaign and Russian Federation.

"Asking FBI to drop an investigation is obstruction of justice".

However, she would not say who that person is, but told Cuomo that he "would know his name and think he was well-qualified". "Move on to tax reform". Those are Trump's worst numbers in that poll. Crossing the voters who elected them is not a recipe for a GOP victory in 2018 congressional elections. "Well I think the President lost patience and I think people in the Justice Department lost confidence in Director Comey himself", he said.

King said that "every day is an adventure".

"What we're hearing is very concerning, very frightening", Illinois Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger told CNN. Comey, who noted the request in a memo, was sacked by Trump on 9 May.

"I'm not saying the news articles are wrong".

"You get a lot of comments where people say, 'I hear you that you're concerned - now what are you going to do about it?'" Sanford said. Lindsey Graham, a member of the Judiciary Committee. Aside from making map directions considerably easier to follow, they also keeps your phone in a central location so you can keep an eye on notifications without taking your eyes off the road.

Many rank-and-file Republicans are still marching faithfully behind the White House.
