An unruly man who had to be duct taped to his seat after on a flight escorted by two U.S. fighter jets is arrested.

A passenger on an American Airlines flight was arrested on Saturday after trying to breach the cockpit.

Airport police investigated and determined Uskanil had been drinking but did not meet the criteria for public intoxication. The plane had been escorted by Hawaii National Guard F-22 Raptors during its descent into Honolulu, according to Hawaii News Now. They took him to the back of the plane and duct-taped him to his seat.

The nature of the fracas was not immediately disclosed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the military or American Airlines, but local news media reported a passenger had tried to force his way into the cockpit of Honolulu-bound Flight 31 from Los Angeles.

Basden returned it to the man when he came out. Associated Press writers Andrew Dalton in Los Angeles and Audrey McAvoy in Honolulu contributed to the story, and AP Airlines Writer David Koenig contributed from Dallas. The man scowled, took the laptop and opened it and closed it and then tried to sit in another first class seat, Mark Basden said.

Lee Lorenzen, of Orange County, Calif., said the suspect pushed against the cart set in place to delay him, and was then grabbed by various people. Witnesses said a flight attendant blocked him with the drink cart near first class.

The unidentified passenger was taken into custody at the airport by federal agents and deputy sheriffs, according to the station. The flight landed at 11:35 a.m.in Honolulu.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security acknowledged in a statement that the suspect was detained and in custody.

The DHS is now monitoring all flights, apparently, "out of an abundance of caution".

Another American Airlines flight, from Charlotte, North Carolina to Hartford, Connecticut made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Friday due to a strong electrical odor on board, according to RDU officials.

She also says the passenger who created the disturbance never stepped foot into the first-class area.
