President Trump Describes His First Day in Saudi Arabia as "Tremendous"

Lockheed Martin President Marillyn Hewson praised the deal as one that will bolster the relationship between the USA and Saudi Arabia and "strengthen the cause of peace in the region".

The big question mark that you should bear in mind is if Saudi Arabia signs up for a 100 billion dollar arms deal with oil prices where they are today, how are they actually going to pay that in the future?

US President Donald Trump has landed in Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh for the start of his first foreign tour since taking office.

The president's first stop on the trip is Saudi Arabia, where he will address a summit of Arab and Muslim leaders.

But the trip has been overshadowed by the deepening crisis surrounding the investigation into Trump's associates and their ties to Russian officials. Escaping Washington for the embrace of the Saudi royal family appeared to give Trump a boost. Tremendous investments in the United States.

Trump and wife Melania descended from Air Force One at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to an enthusiastic greeting by high-level Saudi officials, a military brass band and a fighter jet flyover.

Trump awaits the beginning of a bilateral meeting with Saudi King Salam at the Royal Court Palace, Saturday in Riyadh.

The deals come amid mounting pressure back home for the Trump administration to back off on arms deals to the Kingdom. This is not the first visit by an American president to the region and Saudi Arabia, so what is the importance of this visit? Trump represents a major shift against Iran and a return to the old strategic relationship between America and Saudi Arabia since 1945.

Saudi's ruling family grew deeply frustrated with Obama's detente with Iran and his restrained approach on Syria.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross were spotted linking arms with other Saudi performers during the ceremonial dance.

Trump made no substantial remarks on his first day overseas and spent most of his time shuttling between opulent palace ballrooms with the king. The deal includes tanks, combat ships, missile defense systems, radar and communications, and cybersecurity technology. Tremendous investments in the United States.

With drama aplenty, Netflix and 'Okja' debut in Cannes
As I've come to expect from Bong Joon-ho, this trailer tells us quite a bit and also. very little. Netflix has released the first full trailer for Okja.

The deals mean that the Saudis intend to "to invest a lot of money in the US and have a lot of USA companies invest and build things over here", said Gary Cohn, Trump's chief economic advisor. Among them was a $15 billion arrangement with GE focused on power, oil and gas, and health care.

Ivanka's presence dominated Arabic Twitter traffic, with the phrase "bint Trump" - Arabic for daughter of Trump - trending.

Later Saturday, Trump was greeted by a traditional troupe of Saudi drummers and sword-waving dancers.

On Sunday, Trump is expected to deliver a speech directed to the Muslim world to unite against extremism.

At a campaign event previous year, Trump repeated his claim that the Saudi regime would have collapsed without USA defense support.

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus told reporters on the plane that Mr Trump spent the flight meeting with staff, working on his upcoming speech to the Muslim world and getting a little sleep.

While most USA presidents make their first foreign trip to neighbouring Canada or Mexico, 70-year-old Mr Trump has opted instead for the Middle East and Europe.

He will also travel to Israel, have an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican and attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels and the G7 meeting in Sicily.

Associated Press writer Jon Gambrell contributed to this report from Dubai.

Saudi Arabia adheres to an ultraconservative interpretation of Islamic Shariah law where unrelated men and women are segregated in most public places.
