'She barged into my bedroom,' Yasin Malik accuses India Today reporter

Police in Jammu and Kashmir have registered a case against a India Today TV journalist after Kashmir separatist leader Yasin Malik said that she had entered his bedroom without permission. He snatched and smashed my mobile phone. "I am not concerned with what NIA has to do", he said.

She said he had accused them of trying a "sting operation" on him.

"In February a man approached me who introduced himself as Muzaffar from Baramulla and told me that he would give me Crores of rupees for victims of 2016 uprising", Malik revealed.

Addressing the media here, Malik said the journalist - whom he did not name - had not sought an appointment to interview him. "He told me that the money has come from Indian industrialists", I grew suspicious and asked him why would they give you money".

"She had lied to my sister that she had an appointment with me".

"This shocked me. I objected to her behaviour".

"Let them prove if I have anything more than the two-room house of my mother in Maisuma", he said.

"I was sleeping when a female TV journalist from New Delhi barged into my bedroom".

"The Indian media takes dictates from the army and labels every Kashmiri, be it a stone-pelter or a student protesting on a street, as a paid agent", Malik said. "Violating ethics of journalism, this woman journalist started questioning me, while I was half asleep".

Earlier, Malik said he has filed a complaint before police against a woman journalist for "breaching his privacy and carrying out a sting operation".

"Malik said: "I am asking the media fraternity whether this is the right way of interviewing a person?"

Malik was also asked at the conference about the NIA registering a case on the funding of separatist leaders.
