Ariana Grande 'broken' after blast outside her show kills 22

Greater Manchester Police say 19 people have been confirmed dead in an explosion at Manchester Arena that is being treated as a possible terrorist attack.

"We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated causing this atrocity".

Prime Minister Theresa May also said the incident was being treated as a terrorist attack.

Ian Hopkins, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Many young people were out to enjoy a night at Manchester Arena and very sadly lost their lives".

The Late Late Show was in the midst of filming when news filtered in that an explosion had taken place in Manchester Arena following an Ariana Grande concert, with James Corden pausing to make an impromptu monologue and tribute to the people of Manchester. "We heard the last song, and quite a few people were flooding out and then suddenly there was a massive flash and then a bang, smoke", he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Police advised the public to avoid the area around the Manchester Arena, and the train station near the arena, Victoria Station, was evacuated and all trains canceled.

BIA confirmed she was safe in a tweet that has since been deleted. "It was chaotic. Everybody was running and screaming and just trying to get out".

NY authorities Monday stepped up security at sensitive sites after a deadly blast at a concert in Britain, although officials said there was no indication of a threat to United States targets. She went to the Ariana Grande concert with her best friend, who is being treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

"Everyone pls share this, my little sister Emma was at the Ari concert tonight in #Manchester and she isn't answering her phone, pls help me", said one message posted alongside a picture of a blonde girl with flowers in her hair.

Robinson took dozens of teenage girls to the nearby Holiday Inn Express hotel and tweeted out her phone number to anxious parents, telling them to meet her there. "It was absolutely terrifying".

"Manchester is a proud and strong city and we will not allow those who seek to sow fear and division to achieve their aims".

Eight hospitals across Manchester are treating the 59 people injured by the explosion.

Mr Hopkins said: "At around 10.33pm we received reports of an explosion at Manchester Arena in the city centre".

"This was at the conclusion of the Ariana Grande concert".

"We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We are doing all that we can, working with local and national agencies to support those affected as we gather information about what happened last night".

"Emergency numbers have been established for anyone that is concerned for loved ones who may not have returned home".
