Blast at Ariana Grande concert in England kills 19 people

Police said that a lone male attacker detonated an improvised explosive device at about 10.30pm on May 22nd inside the Manchester Arena.

Dozens of victims are thought to have been separated and unable to call their families and Greater Manchester Police has set up an emergency phone line to help reunite them.

Both Premier League clubs posted short statements Tuesday on their Twitter accounts, with United saying: "We are deeply shocked by last night's awful events at the Manchester Arena".

Video from inside the arena showed concertgoers screaming as they made their way out amid a sea of pink balloons.

"It was a huge explosion - you could feel it in your chest".

Grande later said on Twitter: "broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry". May's Conservatives suspended campaigning in the wake of the attack and other parties were expected to do so too.

Police said they believed one man carried out the attack. She said her thoughts were with the victims and the families of those who have been affected.

"This has been the most horrific incident we have had to face in Greater Manchester and one that we all hoped we would never see", said Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, of Greater Manchester Police on Tuesday.

No militant group has claimed responsibility so far but Islamic State supporters celebrated on social media.

The local ambulance service said 59 people were taken to hospitals.
