Fatalities in Manchester following incident at Ariana Grande concert

The moment a suspected suicide bomb exploded in the Northern English city of Manchester on Monday night (May 22). The attacker, who was killed in the blast, targeted a largely young crowd, many of them teenagers and 'tweens. About 60 others were wounded. A male at the scene in Manchester has been identified as the probable bomber, and a U.S. official said suicide bombing is now considered to be the "likely" reason for the blast.

But when I think of Manchester, the place that I know, I think of the spirit of the people there. Some half-climbed, half-tumbled over barriers in terror. Dozens of parents frantically searched for their children, posting photos and pleading for information on social media. Help poured in for those affected from across the world, on social media, and most importantly from the locals who offered free stay, food, rides and helpline numbers.

A string of images of those still missing has been shared on the hashtag #MissingInManchester.

. I will call them, from now on, losers, because that's what they are.

Witnesses reported hearing a "huge bang" at the venue at the end of United States pop star Ariana Grande's gig on Monday evening as children, teenagers and adults left the building with the lights going up.

The anxious mother said Olivia had attended the concert with her school friend who has turned up at a local hospital. I assure the people in Britain: "Germany stands by your side", she said. Courtney was believed to have been with her stepfather at the concert.

Olivia, aged 15, went to the Ariana Grande concert with best friend Adam Lawler, who also attends Tottington High School and is understood to be in a critical condition in hospital.

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, condemning the attack, said she would convene the Scottish government's Resilience Committee on Tuesday morning to "consider any implications for Scotland". "What should have been a superb evening is now just awful". "I don't have words", she said on Twitter.

Concert-goer Bethany Keeling said: "There was debris everywhere".

"We expect that those behind it will not escape the punishment they deserve", the Kremlin said.

Shaun Hunter was with his daughters, Eva, 10, and Ruby, 12, who were wearing kitten ears like the star of the show, when the house lights went on.

Through tears, Campbell said she didn't know how anyone could do this to "innocent children".

"Ariana was off the stage, she'd finished her set", he told CNN. Victims described being thrown by the blast.

In March, a British-born convert to Islam ploughed a vehicle into pedestrians on London's Westminster Bridge, killing four people, before stabbing to death a police officer who was on the grounds of parliament.
