Trump Denies Israel Was Source Of Intelligence

Oded Revivi (OH-dead Re-VEE-veeis) is the chief foreign envoy of the Yesha settlers' council.

Yet a succession of USA presidents have attempted to negotiate peace between Israel and the Palestinians, whose modern-day conflict dates to the 1948 establishment of the Jewish state, and all have failed. During his earlier visit with Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia, the USA leader said he "found new reasons for hope" for a joint peace effort and greater coordination in the fight against terrorism.

As you know, I've been a big supporter of Israel for a long time.

And while Trump has diverged in some ways from past precedent in his approach to the conflict, he is also shirking some of his hardline pro-Israeli rhetoric from the campaign trail in favor of more traditional USA policy.

"The majority of people in Israel, unlike the media, they love us, so we tell them how you are great, and they love you", Mrs. Netanyahu said. Education Minister Naftali Bennett, head of the nationalist Jewish Home party, was among the first ministers to shake hands with Trump, and took the opportunity to insist the United States should recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Last week, according to a New York Times report, two U.S. officials, one current and one former, said Trump shared the intelligence supplied by Israel in the fight against Islamic State with the Russian officials during an Oval Office meeting earlier this month, which the American press was barred from attending.

He says "that would be an awesome accomplishment".

Donald Trump is betting that Arab nations hold the key to securing peace between Israel and the Palestinians, a paradoxical premise founded on his belief that shared concern over Iran will bring longtime rivals to the bargaining table. Some Palestinians said they were disappointed by the omission. He says that "our main problem is with the occupation and settlements".

"I will call them from now on "losers", because that is what they are". Unlike past U.S. presidents who have drawn clear lines for both sides to follow in order to achieve a deal, Trump has offered little - if not inconsistent - public guidance for the Israeli and Palestinian leaders. "We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device, which he detonated, causing this atrocity", he said. As he spoke, the death toll in the attack at an Ariana Grande concert had climbed to 22. And in today's attack it was mostly innocent children. This wicked ideology must be obliterated, and I mean completely obliterated.

"This includes a renewed effort at peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians".

Trump has said he wants to broker a deal that has proven elusive for the past two decades. He is the first sitting USA president to visit Old City Jerusalem and go to the Western Wall.

Trump's brief journey from Jerusalem to Bethlehem offered a visual reminder of the complexities of the conflict.

In Israel, Mr Trump will meet with President Reuven Rivlin when he gets to Jerusalem before touring Christian and Jewish holy sites in the contested Old City.

Bethlehem is ringed by the barrier on three sides.
