Alabama head baseball coach Greg Goff has been relieved of his duties after just one season at the helm, the Decatur Daily/TimesDaily has learned.

Alabama went 19-34-1 and 5-24-1 in Goff's lone season.

Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne, who was hired from Arizona in January and did not hire Goff last summer, initially expressed support for Goff after the disappointing season. It was his first stint in the Power Five as a head coach with previous stops coming with Montevallo, Campbell and Louisiana Tech.

Several Crimson Tide players that were still on campus, including outfielder and linebacker Keith Holcombe, were informed of the news in a 1 p.m. team meeting at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

Earlier this week, Goff tried to take away reduce scholarships from at least 10 players.

In 2016, Goff was signed to a five year deal with the Tide.

But there was too much turmoil in a program that finished with its lowest victory total since 1980 and lost in unfathomable ways, including a wild pitch during an intentional walk that produced the winning run for Jacksonville State in a setback this past February.

Of course, this season's misery wasn't just relegated to conference play.

But the losing soon resumed and so too did the internal strife.

Goff's year in Tuscaloosa was marked by tumult on and off the field, which ultimately led to his dismissal.
