Kim Kardashian slammed for 'disgusting' Ariana Grande tribute after Manchester terror attack

The killing of 22 people - many of them teens - following a concert in this northern English city by American pop star Ariana Grande late Monday night was claimed Tuesday by the Islamic State, which said one of its "soldiers" was responsible.

"You might also see military personnel deployed at certain events such as concerts and sports matches, helping the police to keep the public safe", she said.

"This means that their assessment is not only that an attack remains highly likely but a further attack is imminent".

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said at a news conference Tuesday that the suspect's name is Salman Abedi.

"The police in the states and territories work closely with our federal intelligence and police agencies - the AFP and ASIO - we are working closely with our coordinator for counter-terrorism and reviewing our security arrangements and constantly upgrading them and refining them", he said.

But the terrible nature of the attack on children and teenagers did not, it seem, motivate immediate anti-Muslim feeling in the grieving city-a place where Muslim cab drivers were among the many that gave free rides to people escaping the area after the attack.

"There were 21,000 people in Manchester Arena last night, some of those will have been at their first concert", Vincent wrote.

Manchester, 160 miles (260 kilometers) northwest of London, is one of Britain's largest cities and Manchester Arena is one of the largest indoor concert venues in the world.

The attack was the deadliest in Britain since four suicide bombers killed 52 London commuters on subway trains and a bus in July 2005.

"The perpetrator was Salman Ramadan Abedi, who was born and brought up in Britain", May said, condemning his actions as "callous and cowardly".

If, as claimed, this attack was carried out by an adherent of the Islamic State, the targeting of women could have been intentional.

In her only statement so far, Grande took to Twitter some five hours after the bombing to describe herself as "broken" in the aftermath of the attack.

May spoke to US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and several other foreign leaders yesterday about the attack, her spokesman said. "This is similar to ISIS attacks in Syria and Iraq".

- All national election campaigning was suspended after the explosion.

Neighbour Natalie Daley said that, prior to the explosion, she heard police yelling, "Get in your houses".

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip observe a minute's silence at the start of a special garden party at Buckingham Palace in London.

The UN Security Council on Tuesday condemned "in the strongest terms" the barbaric terrorist attack in Manchester, Britain, while stressing the need to intensify regional and global efforts to combat terrorism.

- A controlled explosion was carried out on Tuesday afternoon, as part of the investigation, at an address in Fallowfield.

Manchester remained on high alert, with additional armed police drafted in.

Armed officers then took police dogs into the house, he explained, but added: "They didn't find anybody in the house at the time".

"But about two years ago there was a black flag on the roof with Arabic writing on it".
