United Kingdom irritated by USA leaks in Manchester attack

Collomb, who spoke with May after the attack, said the two countries should continue cooperating closely on counterterrorism efforts despite Britain's pending exit from the European Union.

With Abedi suspected of having had accomplices, the government late on Tuesday raised the official terror threat level to "critical", meaning that an attack was expected imminently.

British police do not routinely carry firearms, but London police said extra armed officers would be deployed at this weekend's soccer cup final at Wembley and rugby at Twickenham. The bomb was said to have gone off in the foyer of Manchester Arena-a venue that seats about 21,000 people.

"I want to end by repeating the important message I gave in my statement earlier today".

The minister said she was "not surprised at all" that the attack had been claimed by the Islamic State group, but said there was no information yet to confirm the extremist organisation's active direction. Georgina Callander Peter Rawlinson, deputy of the Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy in Croston, northwest of Manchester, told The Associated Press that the school confirmed Callander's death with members of her family. "Initially we thought that the sound was all kinds of things, but it didn't hit that this was a bomb until we were evacuated". "He was normal, to be honest".

Armed and armored police surrounded a red brick house listed as Abedi's address yesterday in a Manchester suburb and blasted down the door.

The UK's terror alert is at its highest level for a decade.

The father of the 22-year-old Briton who police say bombed a concert in Manchester insisted Wednesday that his son was innocent and just had been preparing to go on a pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

British Prime Minister Theresa May chaired a meeting Wednesday of her emergency security cabinet group to talk about concerns Abedi might have had outside support.

All were believed to have been at the concert and have not been traced since the attack.

The youngest victim named so far, Saffie Rose Roussos was described by the headteacher of her school, Chris Upton, as "simply a handsome little girl in every aspect of the word".

A Polish couple living in Britain were confirmed among the Manchester victims, along with 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, whose mother had issued heartrending appeals for help when her daughter was still listed as missing. It said she died of injuries from the attack and described her as "a lovely young student who was very popular with her peers and the staff".

Alongside a photo of Olivia she wrote on Facebook: "RIP my darling precious gorgeous girl Olivia Campbell taken far far too soon go sing with the angels and keep smiling mummy loves you so much".

Labour's Khalid Mahmood, who is defending Perry Bar at the election, told MailOnline the case of Abedi demonstrated the weakness of the system. "My daughter Phoebe will be absolutely devastated like we all are".

"We are still in contact with the tour promoters regarding a final decision".

"It's very clear that this is a network that we are investigating", Greater Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins told reporters, as four people remained in custody.

The vigil, held in warm evening sunshine in front of the Town Hall, drew representatives of different religions who, one by one, condemned Monday evening's bombing, which ripped through a crowd leaving a show by United States singer Ariana Grande.
