Arsene Wenger 'sad' over criticism from former Gunners defender Tony Adams

Arsene Wenger insists that Saturday's FA Cup final is about much more than him and his future, and revolves instead around Arsenal's drive to beat Premier League champions Chelsea and end a troubled season on a high note.

Wenger has also admitted the uncertainty contributed to the club's first finish outside the top four in two decades. But the fact that he will be absent from Wembley Stadium on Saturday will be worrying the Gunners faithful as they seek to derail their arch-rivals chances of lifting a League and Cup double.

While Arsenal and Manchester United finished more than 20 points behind the eventual champions Chelsea, Ferguson and Wenger went head-to-head for the title nearly every season during their 17 years in opposition dugouts.

But the 67-year-old is more focused on beating the Toffees than on his own situation - highlighting his point by having one final dig at Adams.

The Gunners boss, who described the legendary Manchester United manager as "the greatest manager to have worked in England", told the club's official site that he does not see himself eclipsing the Scot's quarter-century landmark with Arsenal.

The Arsenal manager revealed that Gabriel Paulista would be out until August with the medial knee ligament injury that he suffered against Everton on Sunday while Laurent Koscielny is suspended after being sent off in the same fixture.

"It is not about me, it is about us winning the trophy and giving absolutely everything to achieve it".

"Alexis is alright", Wenger said at his pre-match media conference.

"We have to do our job, we are professionals". I am professional. I love this club enough to do my best every single day. "I owe this to this team and to this club". Mustafi missed the Everton game with an illness and Wenger said "we still have some worries about" the Germany global.

It means Wenger may be forced to revert to a back four as Rob Holding and Nacho Monreal would be the only other viable options at centre-back if Mustafi and Gabriel are both ruled out.
