LeBron: Chasing Jordan 'my personal goal to keep me motivated'

Cleveland superstar LeBron James surpassed National Basketball Association icon Michael Jordan as the league's all-time playoff scoring leader on Thursday, May 25 (Friday Manila time) in the Cavaliers' Eastern Conference finals victory over the Celtics in Boston.

James set a historic feat in marching to his seventh straight NBA Finals appearance as the Cleveland Cavaliers finished off the Boston Celtics in emphatic fashion, 135-102, to win the Eastern Conference Finals, 4-1, at the TD Garden. They can clinch the series and a third straight trip to the NBA Finals with a victory in Game 5, set for May 25 in Boston.

The debate on whether Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James has surpassed or can surpass Michael Jordan has been a button topic ever since the Cavs came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the NBA Championship.

Now, the Warriors did manage to cover the 6.5-point spread in Game 2 versus the Cavaliers last season, winning a 110-77 rout, but fell ATS in Game 2 of the 2015 finals, losing 95-93 to LeBron James & Co.as 7.5-point home chalk. Kyrie Irving knocked down four triples, the same total as James, to add 24 markers, while Kevin Love chipped in a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds.

When his 3-pointer splashed with a half-second left in the third quarter, the Cavs led 87-80. James scored 15 and Irving 13 in the quarter, with James hitting three bombs in the final 2:41.

Boston's Avery Bradley tried to fight back with 14 points in the second quarter.

While the Warriors have posted a ideal 12-0 record in the playoffs this season, the Cavs have almost matched them. The Warriors won the National Basketball Association title back in 2015, and then the Cavaliers came from behind and beat Golden State previous year in 7 games.

Let's be honest, not many are giving the Cavaliers much of a chance in the NBA Finals.

Boston coach Brad Stevens pointed to the performances by Irving and James as the difference in a fiercely contested, physical game. "Again, sometimes I think that - I'll go look at it and see all the things that we did wrong, but I think it's more of a tip-your-hat kind of thing with those two guys tonight".

Kyrie Irving was at his explosive best May 23 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals. Karl Malone, 4,761 8.

Irving kept Cleveland within striking distance while James was out by scoring 12 points over the final 5:11 of the second quarter.

The Cavaliers made just six of their 19 attempts from the field and one of their five three-point tries over the first 12 minutes of action. The Celtics used their third different starting lineup in four games against Cleveland.

"There's choices", Stevens said. Their consolation prize is, they won the NBA Draft Lottery and will have the number one pick on June 22 and a shot to select their LeBron James. "But right now, I can't say that he's going to be coaching". Held a pregame moment of silence for the victims of the Manchester bombing.

Yes, India does have a great chance to defend the Champions Trophy; that is, if they manage to overcome two tough opponents. We have two hard matches straight up against Australia and England and if we don't start well the tournament's over.
