EU, China to reaffirm support for climate pact

According to several sources close to the President, Trump has been telling anyone and everyone that he will be taking the us from the newly established climate agreement.

As reports poured in Wednesday that Donald Trump is set to pull the United States out of the Paris climate agreement, Musk was getting more pressure to cut his ties to the president.

Aides to Trump said he was listening with an open mind to the other leaders' arguments about Paris, but had yet to decide whether to withdraw the USA from the pact.

The decision will put the USA in league with Syria and Nicaragua as the world's only non-participants in the Paris Climate Agreement - brokered by Mr Trump's predecessor Barack Obama in 2015.

India and Spain on Wednesday expressed their commitment to fighting climate change and reiterated their support for implementing the Kyoto and Paris accords.

The White House did not confirm the reports, while Trump restated that his decision would be announced this week.

And Trump tweeted that he would announce his official decision within the next few days.

"Following a successful global tour and the G-7 summit in Italy, president Trump has an opportunity to relieve our nation of the unfair and economically devastating requirements of the Paris Agreement, the United Nations climate treaty he pledged to rip up during the campaign", Cruz wrote in an op-ed in CNN.

According to the Axios news website, U.S. President Donald Trump has made a decision to pull out of the global agreement on climate change that was signed in 2015.

The move, if confirmed, comes despite the urging of European leaders at the G-7 summit last week in meetings with Trump not to abandon the accord.

The decision to withdraw from the climate accord was influenced by a letter from 22 Republican US senators, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, calling for an exit, Axios reported.

In his first major speech on climate action, Guterres promised that he will intensify high-level political engagement to "raise the bar" on climate action.

An American pullout would deal a devastating blow to global efforts to combat climate change less than 18 months after the historic 196-nation pact was signed in Paris, fruit of a hard-fought agreement between Beijing and Washington under Barack Obama's leadership.

Climate solutions provide opportunities that are unmatchable. "AGAIN!" the president tweeted, as several USA outlets including website Axios reported he had made up his mind to quit the deal.

Global warming might reach more unsafe levels even sooner if the US backs out from its pledge to cut carbon dioxide pollution, scientists have said.

Tillerson and Energy Secretary Rick Perry had both advised against leaving the deal, sources said.
