Rangers confirm Bruno Alves signing

Rangers snapped up Bruno Alves from Cagliari today.

The Scottish Premiership club, who finished third and whopping 39 points behind Celtic this season, have recruited the veteran centre-half after he left Serie A side Cagliari.

Rangers have completed the signing of Portuguese worldwide Bruno Alves on a two-year deal.

That means the former Porto, Zenit St Petersburg and Fenerbahce stopper - who has 89 caps for Portugal - is unlikely to be available for the Ibrox side until mid-July.

He joined Cagliari last summer and made 37 appearances throughout the 2016/17 season scoring once.

The Portugal global defender has signed for the Glasgow giants subject to a medical to become Pedro Caixinha's opening addition to a squad which needed to undergo a major overhaul.

Alves added that he thinks Caixinha has the quality and mentality to take Rangers back to success once again - words that will give Rangers fans belief that good times are on the horizon. "I'm happy to be coached by him".

"At nearly all the clubs I have played, I win, and I expect to win here for the fans and for the club".

"He spoke about the project, the future, what he wants to bring here and he was so important for me to join the team".

"At nearly all the clubs I have played for I win, and I expect to win here for the fans and for the club; I think I can do this here".

He said: "I have this feeling and this desire to win and I think to move here will bring this back to me and to my career".
