Charity Jordan looked poised Wednesday to better her performance from last year's Scripps National Spelling Bee.

In celebration of Spelling Bee week, Google Trends has released a map revealing the most misspelled word in each state! He is a 13-year-old seventh grader at Delaware Valley Middle School who was sponsored by the Tri-State Spelling Bee Committee in Montague.

The Arkansas native has been competing since he was in the fifth grade, according to his biography on the Scripps National Spelling Bee website.

After several years of the event ending in a tie, organizers this year have succeeded in making the bee more hard, significantly narrowing the field of 291 through Wednesday's grueling preliminary rounds with every speller getting to a chance to spell two words on stage.

"It was like I knew the beginning and I knew the end, and it was just that one letter that tripped me up", Charity said.

Vogoti's advancement to the finals will depend on the score of Tuesday's written spelling and vocabulary test (30 points possible) plus the points of correctly spelled words in Wednesday's two rounds (3 points each). "Just all of that, the pressure just got to me and the nerves".

The 90th annual national bee features 291 students, ranging in age from 6 to 15. Rana would repeat spellings "over and over and over again", he said.

The other competitor from Oklahoma set a record by simply being in the bee.

She earned the spot in the third round after spelling buckminsterfullerene - a spherical molecule also called a bucky-ball - during the second round earlier in the day. She was able to learn about different countries and cultures and different kinds of food, ' her mother said.
