Tiger Woods Was Asleep At Wheel, Breath Test Showed No Alcohol

A police report, released today, claims pro-golfer Tiger Woods was asleep at the wheel and had to be awoken by officers during his arrest for driving under the influence, according to NBC News.

Tiger Woods was arrested by police early Monday morning in South Florida after they believed he was improperly parked on the right side of the roadway, police documents released Tuesday show.

Nike said it doesn't plan on dumping Tiger Woods over his DUI arrest earlier this week, according to reports.

A police report released on Tuesday said Woods was asleep at the wheel of his auto stopped on a Florida road and did not know where he was.

Woods, the driver and only person in the auto, had his seat belt on and was seated in the driver's seat.

A police officer, however, noted that Woods said he had not taken Vioxx this year. The athlete has been recovering from back surgery - his fourth such operation - and is expected to be out of action until October.

Asked if he would like to comment on Woods, Nicklaus initially joked: "No, not really".

In a statement, Woods said his arrest came after an "unexpected reaction" to prescription medication. Woods later took a breathalyzer test, which revealed his blood alcohol level to be.000.

Incident reports released Tuesday by Jupiter Police said Woods' Mercedes had blocked a bike lane.

'I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. Woods also told officers he had taken four medications, including the painkiller Vicodin.

"I'm concerned about him", said Steve Stricker, the Presidents Cup captain who chose Woods as one of his assistants.

Woods apologised, saying, "I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again".

"I feel bad for Tiger", Jack Nicklaus said.

This story is developing. "We wish him well". I don't know what's going to happen [now].

"What a stunning contrast these two photos are, taken 20 years and seven weeks apart", Brennan added.

Woods has not played professional golf since February, when he played just one round and withdrew due to back spasms. "It's very hard to play golf and do the things he does without a drastic change of his golf swing after a fusion operation". Shortly after his victory, Woods announced he would undergo reconstructive ACL surgery on his left knee and would miss the rest of the PGA Tour season.

Nicklaus says he last saw Woods at a dinner for past champions at the Masters, and Woods said his back was hurting.
