Armed Police Raid in East Ham Following London Bridge Terror Attack

NHS England has said 21 people are in a critical condition following Saturday night's terror attack in Central London.

Dozens of stunned people left the area with their hands on their heads as heavily armed police fanned across the crowded capital.

One Canadian national was killed in the attack, while media reported that German and French nationals were among those injured. "Investigations may prompt localized incidents and security cordons in London or elsewhere". He said he then saw a woman and man being stabbed while the attackers shouted: "This is for Allah", and recalled how he tried to distract the men.

The attacks began when a white van mowed down pedestrians on London Bridge.

"The attack which struck a new abominable, cowardly attack on our free societies", the presidency said.

She called for a global effort to "regulate cyberspace", something that is likely to prove hard, and said that the London attack was not connected to a suicide bombing at a pop concert in Manchester, England, last month that killed 22 people.

Law enforcement officials in major USA cities said they were not aware of any threats but were on alert.

"We will never be cowed by terrorism", he said, calling the attackers "barbaric cowards". Grande and other stars are scheduled to perform a benefit concert for victims under tight security in Manchester Sunday night.

May, who served as interior minister for six years before taking office after the Brexit vote last summer, said Britain's response to the terror threat must change.

Condemning the attack, Theresa May said it was "time to say enough is enough".

Responding Sunday to Trump's criticism, a Khan spokesman issued a pointed statement saying that the mayor - busy coordinating a response to the attack even while reassuring Londoners and visitors - had "more important things to do than respond to Donald Trump's ill-informed tweet that deliberately takes out of context his remarks".

Police got their first emergency call at 10:08 p.m. and within eight minutes had killed the three assailants, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, Cressida Dick, said Sunday morning. The force said the men were wearing what looked like suicide vests that turned out to be fake.

He said his staff remained calm under pressure as pandemonium broke out in the Borough Market area, which was bustling with people enjoying themselves on a balmy Saturday evening. In March, a British convert to Islam ran down people with a vehicle on Westminster Bridge, killing four before fatally stabbing a police officer on Parliament's grounds.

Less than two weeks ago, a suicide bomber killed 22 children and adults at a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in Manchester in northern England. It was raised to critical after the Manchester attack, then lowered again days later. But the main parties suspended campaigning Sunday. "People were throwing bottles at them, pint glasses, whatever they could pick up".

Trump was also fiercely criticized by Brendon Cox, the husband of former British lawmaker Jo Cox, who was murdered by a right-wing fanatic in November 2016.
