India defeated Pakistan by 124 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method in their rain-hit ICC Champions Trophy match in Birmingham on Sunday. While he was pleased with the win, Kohli was not impressed with India's fielding.

Rohit Sharma (91) and Shikhar Dhawan (68) added 136 runs in their first wicket partnership to give India a solid start at the beginning of the innings.

Then came the experienced Yuvraj Singh, who smashed 53 runs off just 32 balls to help India post a formidable total.

Allrounder Hardik Pandya smashed three sixes at the start of his team's last over as India let rip to reach 319-3 from 48 overs after being put into bat at a rain-hit Edgbaston, which had nearly 25,000 spectators. The teams were off again with India on 173-1 off 33.1 overs as Pakistan started to clamp down. "I'd be really disappointed if we walked away and for the rest of the tournament sort of hit our heads because we're better than that".

"I felt like a club batsman while playing alongside 'Yuvi', the way he was hitting the ball", Kohli said after India kicked off their title defence with a comprehensive victory over their arch-rivals.

Pakistan let go of two glorious chances to dismiss Kohli and Yuvraj but both were allowed to continue after dropping easy chances.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for the Indians, with his 3-30 contributing to their opponents only managing 164.

Wahab's day was summed up when he was unable to complete his ninth over after falling awkwardly in his delivery stride. Analysing the match, Afridi said India came hard on skipper Sarfraz Ahmed's shoddy game plan.

"Mohammad Amir bowled a splendid first over and I thought he would strike with the new ball". Despite many interruptions due to rain, India scored 319 for three.

Sharma was fortunate on 21 to edge Amir just beyond the grasp of diving slip Azhar Ali. He brought his fifty by depositing spinner Shadab Khan over deep mid-wicket for a six.

Ahmed Shehzad (22) was the first one to go back. "There is simply no excuse for a 164-run score on a flat wicket where the opposition managed 319 with consummate ease", he finished.

Sharma's 119-ball innings included two sixes and seven fours. Their fielders dropped several catches and their bowlers bowled poor length.

Hasan eventually had Yuvraj lbw on review but it was all too late.

Kohli had made 43 when he was missed by substitute Fakhar Zaman, who got both hands to a top-edged hook off Wahab but could not hold on. Pandya breathed fresh fire into the end of the Indian innings with three consecutive sixes in an over that was followed by a flourish by Virat Kohli. And the situation was made worse since the Pakistani side kept losing wickets, without getting anywhere near to the target or the required run rate.
