Cristiano Ronaldo and Alex Ferguson share touching moment after the UCL Final

A brace by Cristiano Ronaldo, and strikes from Casemiro and Marco Asensio ensured that the Old Lady would once again be the bridesmaids in a season where they swept all domestic honours on offer. This is when it all started falling apart for Juve, their defence which had conceded only three goals en route to Cardiff, had gone into self-destruct mode.

A loud sound panicked thousands of fans gathered in Piazza San Carlo to watch the match pitting Juventus against Real Madrid on giant TV screens.

Not surprisingly, the focus has turned to how Juventus might be able to strengthen their squad in order to offer a stronger challenge against Europe's best next season. "We didn't have possession", Zidane told reporters.

He said: "In the first half we played beautifully, but they pushed the accelerator in the second half and we could not resist".

"It is hard to say (how long), but we need to enjoy what we are doing and we will see".

The Real Madrid forward scored twice in the 4-1 victory over Juventus, ensuring he beat Lionel Messi to the competition's top scorer award and reached 600 career goals as well as winning the competition for the fourth time in his career.

"We won the [Spanish] league on the very last day".

Veteran Juve keeper Gianluigi Buffon's hopes of becoming the oldest player to win the trophy were crushed by a ruthless Madrid side and his chances of adding a Champions League winners' medal to his collection of silverware now look slim. "We pressed a lot more and physically we won the game there too, so I'm very happy".

As a player, he was in two consecutive Champions League finals with Juventus, losing both times, including to Madrid in 1998.

"Now we have to enjoy all of this", he said.

Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos celebrates after winning the Uefa Champions League Final at The National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff June 3, 2017.

"Zidane can stay at Real Madrid for the rest of his life", he said.

And Croatia playmaker Modric, who brilliantly set up Ronaldo's second goal, was quick to pay tribute to manager Zinedine Zidane.

"I think we just had to go for it", Bale said of their performance after the break.

"I think we feel like an unbelievable team, and we need to just keep doing what we are doing, because I think we can win many more titles in the future". It was the team's sixth title since the competition's new format was created in 1992, two more than Barcelona.
